Short Term Goal- 165 lbs
Intermediate Goal- 160 lbs
Long Term Goal- 130 lbs
I got pretty lazy about posting this last month. However, I didn't stall out my weight loss. As you can see, I've lost six pounds since my last "weekly weigh in". If I had kept up with my posting, it probably could have been more.
That's definitely something I'm going to work on.
I'm getting pretty close to my intermediate goal- I'd love to be there by Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure it's going to happen. I did add another Y class to my schedule- however, I also seem to be skipping at least one class a week and I'm not great about going on the weekends.
I'll try to finish October strong and build some momentum for the holiday season!

Weekly Weigh In
Height- 5'4"
Weight- 176 lbs
Cruise Countdown- 146 days
Short Term Goal- 170 lbs
Intermediate Goal- 160 lbs
Long Term Goal- 130 lbs
Up one pound. I'm not going to spazz about this because I also started my period the day I weighed in. I'm guessing this gain is more hormonal in nature- especially since I stuck to my food and exercise plan pretty well last week. If I'm still on an upward swing next week, I'll freak out.

The Official Y Scale
Having discussed the inconsistent scale readings with others, I have determined that the Y staff has likely not calibrated that scale in a while. I should probably ask about it when I go in today. Or just calibrate my own dang scale at home. Except I hate that scale. Maybe I should just get a new one.

Let it be proclaimed throughout the land- the DOE open house had some awesome snacks, and I didn't eat ANY of them. Not even the little eclairs or cream puffs. I swear the second I get on board the Disney Magic, I'm going for the dessert buffet. I love my pudding, but some of that stuff was gourmet!

Weekly Weigh In (Late)
Height- 5'4"
Weight- 175 lbs
Cruise Countdown- 151 days
Short Term Goal- 170 lbs
Intermediate Goal- 160 lbs
Long Term Goal- 130 lbs
Okay- I'm not sure how I managed to lose 6 pounds this week. I think I stuck to the eating plan pretty well, but I really slacked off on the exercise. Plus, I'm not sure that it's really possible to lose 6 pounds in 8 days! Maybe moving the scale around for football sign-ups affected it.
I guess I'm seeing some difference in my clothes- not a lot though. I've got one pair of jeans and one pair of shorts that are noticeably looser, but everything else is about the same. I'm waiting to get back into my little black skirts. I've had them for years, I used to wear them when I was subbing. I can get into them, but there's really no give in the waist band. It would be nice to wear them again.
I can't believe I'm only 15 pounds away from my intermediate goal (assuming that the Y scale can be trusted). I have about 10 weeks until Thanksgiving, and I'll be on the road for at least 3 of them. Here's hoping I can keep everything together. It would be nice to hit another short term goal before the holidays.

Gained a pound- I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I missed two days at the Y, and a couple of the days I did go I didn't work as hard as I should have. My eating was totally off over the weekend too- I went to the Pub Friday night, a BBQ Saturday, and Sunday I only had one real meal (and a couple snacks). I'll have to work harder this week.

An Open Letter to Warehouse 13
Dear Writers of Warehouse 13,
What the hell dudes? That was some sloppy writing. Why would college students be concerned about a local bottling plant closing down? They're in COLLEGE! Apparently a pretty nice one, given Gary's dorm room. Seriously? He's got single room and he's worried about a scholarship? Financial worries mean roommates- or living at home. (If your college is located in your hometown AND you have financial issues, you go cheap and live at home.)
If he's in college, I'm guessing he's already got the means to pay (or some serious future debt), and ambitions that will take him beyond a bottling plant. College degrees give you options beyond staying in your hometown. I'm guessing that the school draws some folks that aren't local- maybe he can try living in one of their towns.
Point two- there is no South Dakota University. East river we've got University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, and Northern State University. West river (where Warehouse 13 WOULD be located), there's Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Those are just the public universities- there's a ton of private colleges as well. What's the matter SyFy, couldn't get any of the local schools to pony up an endorsement? I guess that's not you're fault, but as a South Dakota resident, I feel it's my duty to pick on these things.
You don't even want to know what I think of the racial make-up of Univille. Have you ever been in a small South Dakota town? Yes, there's a white majority- but come on. Major cop out making the vet Hispanic. Native American would have been much more believable, giving the locale. I suppose I'll buy her being a recent transplant. But seriously folks, a cafe AND a Chinese restaurant? In a town that small, they're lucky to have one place to eat and a hotel B/B thing (neither of which is a bar).
Seriously, come to South Dakota. Explore a little. Soak up some of the local flavor. Then get back to work.

Why Did the Deer Cross the Road?
Apparently to get to my front yard.
I wish I could have taken a picture, but I was on my way to work (and running late, as usual).

Zumba Kicked My Ass Tonight
Zumba totally kicked my ass tonight. I was expecting Karla, our regular Wednesday teacher- but instead we had Elizabeth.
I take zumba with Elizabeth on Mondays, so I know her style and her routines, but I was expecting a more relaxed zumba experience today.
Elizabeth is my preferred instructor. I love her music, her routines are interesting, and I always get a great workout with her. However, she doesn't do as much actual teaching as Karla.
Karla is zumba for beginners, Elizabeth is definitely the advanced class. Karla moves slower, explains more. Elizabeth just says "Follow me", that and "Energy guys, come on!"
As one of the rhythmically challenged, I have a hard time following- I leave her class feeling uncoordinated and out of step. (Which is sad, because I've been taking classes with her for a couple of months now. I still don't have her routines down!) Of course I also leave sweaty, sore, and out of breath.

The Emperor's Old Clothes
Today I am wearing my khaki pants. I've owned these pants for awhile, but I haven't worn them in more than a year. The last time they were on my body, it felt like they were cutting all circulation off at my thighs. I couldn't wait to get them off at the end of the day- and not in the sexy way.
I've had them on for two hours now and, while the thigh cut still isn't REALLY comfortable, I don't feel the need to change when I go home for lunch.
I've been working toward losing weight for the last six months- some months have been more serious than others. I've gotten to the point where I work out at LEAST twice a week (which is way more than the zero times per week it used to be.)
I still have food issues- which explains the daily food diary featured on this blog. I read that people lose more weight when they write down what they eat- I thought I'd give it a try, and a public forum to see if that would keep me more honest.
I guess it's working- slowly, but working- I can now say that I have lost the weight I gained when I moved to my current location!
Yay me!

An Introduction
A. Nona Mouse here,
Yes, I understand that anyone with half a clue will be able to deduce my actual name and location.
The thin veil of anonymity, combined with the sheer number of blogs, should give me the freedom I want. There are things going on in my head that I don't feel comfortable discussing with anyone in my life, things that I think need to be talked about. I just need one place where I can be completely myself.
Combating Ennui is my journal.
Feel free to read, to comment, to judge.
