366 Days

In 365 days I'll be on my way to Orlando, FL.

In 366 days I will be on board the Disney Fantasy.

Today I am 16 pounds heavier than when I was on the Disney Magic in February.

My pants are getting uncomfortable and I hate it. It's time to crackdown. I have one year to make my goal - maintaining a weight somewhere between 120-1230 pounds. To do this, I need to start being serious (again) about my diet and exercise habits. It's time for....The Crackdown!

Crackdown Rules

1. If it comes from a drive-through or a delivery person, don't eat it. I'm re-instituting the ban on fast food. And yes, this is going to include Papa Murphy's!

"Exception" - Road trips and trips to Sioux Falls.

2. If it's in the break-room or on the filing cabinet, it's not for me. Snacking at work is not working out for me. I'm taking a page from Nancy Reagan and just saying, "NO!"

3. I know how to cook - I don't need to go to a restaurant to eat. I just need to not be lazy.

4. Exercise is not to be skipped. I vow to work-out at least 5-7 days a week. I may not make all of my scheduled classes, but there's no excuse for missing completely. Even if I have to deal with that bitch Jillian.

I figure if I can go back to keeping my calorie count between 12-1500 a day, and keep up with the exercise, I should be able to lose about a pound a week. If I can do that, I should be able to fit back into my pants within a month. My bras will fit better within three months, and I might be able to justify some new clothes when I go to Orlando in January (not a cruise, just parks).

Upcoming Problems

1. 31 Party - I'm cooking and it's not likely to be healthy. My plan is to get other people to take the leftovers home. Also, to not skimp out on the exercising.

2. Thanksgiving - Just deal with the fact that you will be eating that weekend and it will include desserts. Fortunately, I still have the 5K on Friday, I can sign up for zumba on Saturday, and use Amy's treadmill when needed. There shouldn't be an excuse to skip exercising.

3. Christmas - I'll be baking, I'll be sampling, I'll try to keep it under control. Using cookies as gifts should help.

4. Orlando - I'll be in Orlando for the week after New Year's. I'm hoping walking around the parks will negate the park food.

5. Las Vegas - I'll be in Las Vegas for a long weekend in June. I will be at the buffets. Again, hoping the walking around negates at least some of the food.

Rewards

If I can get my BMI to read normal rather than overweight, I'm going to buy the DVD cabinet I found on Amazon. It'll take some time to get that 20-25 pounds off, so I should have time to save up the $300 I'll need.

Daily Recap

Breakfast - 1 Greek Peach Yogurt, 1 Chocolate Chip Muffin, 1 Lemon-Poppyseed Mini-Muffin, 1 Dark Chocolate Hershey's Mini
Lunch - None
Dinner - 1 Large Papa Murphy's Pizza on DeLight Crust - Spinach, Tomatoes, and Chicken
Dessert - 1 Jell-O Dark Chocolate Pudding Cup
Beverages - Iced Tea and Water

Activity - 1 5K in about 33 Minutes.

Highlights -

Ran in the Honker 5K this morning - best time ever but still dead last (that's probably hyperbole, but not by much!). I will not be running with the Pierre Area Running Club anytime soon. I would do nothing but slow them down.

Caught The Office and Community today. I expect Angela's pregnancy was planned, while Pam's had to be written in. I'm sorry we missed Angela and the Senator's wedding though - maybe we'll get some flashbacks! I can't wait to see how Community shakes out- the Annie/Jeff allusions were terribly overt and that is my ship. Britta as a therapist is horribly funny. I'm pretty sure Abed is retreating more into the world of television in a very dangerous way- makes me wonder if he's had more communication with his mother. An intervention may be necessary.

I borrowed The Other Guys from the library and watched it. It was funnier than I thought it was going to be.

I still need to catch up with the rest of my shows. I still want to see The Playboy Club, among other things. I need to explore all the sites and see which episodes are available for streaming. TV's a lot more work now that I don't have DVR.

Yesterday's Daily Recap

Breakfast - 1 Banana
Lunch - 1 Bowl of Oatmeal with Cranberries
Dinner - 1 Healthy Choice Orange Chicken Cafe Steamer
Beverages - Iced Tea and Water

Activity - 45 Minutes of H20 Kickboxing

Highlights -

I very much wanted chocolate chip cookies at bedtime. This weekend is going to be tough. I may break down and get some ice cream! (Totally justified though, the weather's not going to be nice for much longer.)

I watched Doctor Who - finally. I don't think we've seen the last of Amy and Rory, though I would like the show to explore post-companion life a bit. Seriously, what are they going to do know that they're not traveling all of space and time. Rory still has his career, but Amy was a Kiss-O-Gram girl. Oh well, they still have to deal with the whole Melody/River thing, plus the Doctor's death in Nevada. No way he's really going to die.

I started reading Fluke by Christopher Moore - so far so good. I'm hoping the whole "stuck inside a whale" thing makes more sense as the story goes on. Also, I'm pretty sure Amy is going to turn out to be some iteration of Amelia Earhart.

Daily Recap

Breakfast - 1 Banana
Lunch - 1 Bowl of Oatmeal with Cranberries
Pre-Bowling Dinner - 1 Healthy Choice Pineapple Chicken Cafe Steamer
Post-Bowling Dinner - 1 Lean Cuisine BBQ Chicken Pizza
Beverages - Iced Tea and Water

Activity - 3.25 Miles in 41 Minutes; 3 Games of Bowling

Highlights-

Bowling Scores - 129, 118, and 102

I watched The New Girl on itunes while eating lunch. That show was 13 minutes of painful, cringing, godawful crap with about 10 minutes of genuine comedy. There are a couple of characters I liked, Zooey Deschanel's was not one of them. They get rid of her and Schmidt (Barney Stinson wannabe) and they may have a good show. I'll give it one more chance, if it doesn't improve I'll cut it from the team.

Medium Goal - 140 lbs by April (Next Health Check)

Long Term Goal - 130 lbs by June (School Reunion in Las Vegas)

Ultimate Goal - Maintain a weight of 120-130 lbs.

Because - I don't want to be the fat bitch at the next family reunion (2013). It's enough to just be a bitch.

Highlights -

Hawaii Five-0 - I KNEW the baby wasn't Danno's! I wasn't surprised that the team got back together, however seeing Jenna with Wo Fat was disconcerting. I'm looking forward to seeing where that goes.

Castle - If Castle and Beckett don't get their shit together this season, I'm calling shenanigans. Time to fish or cut bait!

How I Met Your Mother - I was totally thinking of Victoria when Robin brought up the "timing and chemistry" thing! I'm happy to see them revisiting the relationship - even if she's not the Mother. I loved Barney and Robin's dance number and drunk Marshall was a delight.

Dessert - 1 Dark Chocolate Jell-O Pudding Cup
Beverages - Iced Tea, Water, 1 Can of Diet Coke

Today's Highlights:

I did NOT eat any of the M&M's even though they live on our file cabinet.

Otherwise it was a very boring day at work. I had the reference staff meeting as well as the collection development committee meeting. I did my regular two hours at the desk and didn't get anything else accomplished today. At some point they are going to figure out that I don't do a whole lot. I'm hoping to get out before that happens.

At lunch today I got one load of laundry in the washer and cleaned off the quesadilla maker from last night's dinner. I still need to get the pizza stone cleaned off.

Free time today consisted of reading Castle fanfiction on www.fanfiction.net. Tomorrow I'm going to check and see which premier's are available online.

I'm hoping Hawaii Five-O will be up, I'm still have a lot of anger from the season finale. I'm willing to concede that Rachel may have been acting under duress. It entirely possible that Stan was in cahoots with Wo Fat and she was trying to get Danny and Grace away from them. I'm still pissed that Danny slept with her even though she's married to someone else- it's a shitty thing to do and I thought better of him. I'm not convinced that Rachel is actually pregnant, and even if she is, we don't really KNOW that it's Danny's.

Diet Fail

Because I managed to gain 15 pounds since my vacation in February, next week (specifically Monday, September 19) the crackdown begins- mainly because I don't want to deal with buying bigger pants, or dig the old ones out of my closet. I will again be posting my eating/exercise habits on this blog. If anyone was actually reading this, I would apologize for the return of the food diary. This method worked really well for me in the past, so I'm going back to it.

April 19 and it's still snowing. I have GOT to find a new place to live.

Weekend Movie

Freedom Writer's was on VH1 tonight and I found myself sucked in, despite my Hilary Swank issues (I don't actually hate her, I just don't see her as a selling point to any movie). Here are a list of things I thought of during the movie:

Erin's attempts to be cool were painful to watch.

I'm not sure why she thought her fellow teacher's would support her efforts - we never saw any evidence that she had any type of relationship with them.

Patrick Dempsey is hot

I don't know how she had time to stay late at school with two part-time jobs.

It does not surprise me that she only stayed at that school for four years.

I really wanted the "where are they now" ending. I like to know how things turn out. Yes, we saw what happened to Erin, but I want to know about the kids. It's all well and good to say that "most" of them went on to college, but I need more.

Lou Diamond Phillips needed a role - even if it was just sitting in the back of the classroom. (Maybe he got lost on his way to calculus?)

Friday, March 18, 2011

I was clicking the next blog button and noticed that every blog after mine was religious in nature. I have to wonder what's going on.

I am not a religious person. I identify myself as Catholic - but I don't go to Church, Confession, and rarely take Communion (the big C's of Catholicism). The Church and I have agreed to disagree on some fundamental issues and I honestly can't be bothered to get up before noon on a Sunday.

Also - going to church alone kind of makes you feel like a loser.

However, I do still observe some of the rituals. I celebrate the heck out of Christmas (in a secular way. People who say "Happy Birthday Jesus" annoy the shit out of me) and I don't eat meat on Ash Wednesday or Fridays during Lent. I usually try to give something else up as well, but I haven't come up with anything good yet. The last few years it was fast food (anyplace that had a drive through counted) but I've successfully broken that habit and I'm not emotionally ready to give up my desserts yet.

I also have a back-up religion, Judaism - again mainly because I like the rituals. I know that actually following the religion would involve a lot more effort on my part. I'd also have to give up mixing my meats and dairy, and that just isn't going to happen.

All this to say - I am not the most reverent person in this universe. So why is my blog, a bastion of sarcasm and inappropriate humor, surrounded by the God Squad?

Blog Fail

It's been how long since my last post? Good thing I don't have any followers.

On the up side, I did lose 46 pounds, and I did go on my Disney Cruise. So, goals met! I still want to lose about 30 more pounds, but right now I'm more focused on maintaining the weight loss than losing more. (FYI, Girl Scout cookies are NOT helping.)

I'm trying to get back into my exercise routine and I've signed up for the Avera Race for the Cure! 5k in Sioux Falls. So far I haven't raised any money, and I honestly don't expect to. I'm in this for the t-shirt.

I'm going to try to get back to this blog. Stay tuned for more!
