Freedom Writer's was on VH1 tonight and I found myself sucked in, despite my Hilary Swank issues (I don't actually hate her, I just don't see her as a selling point to any movie). Here are a list of things I thought of during the movie:
Erin's attempts to be cool were painful to watch.
I'm not sure why she thought her fellow teacher's would support her efforts - we never saw any evidence that she had any type of relationship with them.
Patrick Dempsey is hot
I don't know how she had time to stay late at school with two part-time jobs.
It does not surprise me that she only stayed at that school for four years.
I really wanted the "where are they now" ending. I like to know how things turn out. Yes, we saw what happened to Erin, but I want to know about the kids. It's all well and good to say that "most" of them went on to college, but I need more.
Lou Diamond Phillips needed a role - even if it was just sitting in the back of the classroom. (Maybe he got lost on his way to calculus?)

I was clicking the next blog button and noticed that every blog after mine was religious in nature. I have to wonder what's going on.
I am not a religious person. I identify myself as Catholic - but I don't go to Church, Confession, and rarely take Communion (the big C's of Catholicism). The Church and I have agreed to disagree on some fundamental issues and I honestly can't be bothered to get up before noon on a Sunday.
Also - going to church alone kind of makes you feel like a loser.
However, I do still observe some of the rituals. I celebrate the heck out of Christmas (in a secular way. People who say "Happy Birthday Jesus" annoy the shit out of me) and I don't eat meat on Ash Wednesday or Fridays during Lent. I usually try to give something else up as well, but I haven't come up with anything good yet. The last few years it was fast food (anyplace that had a drive through counted) but I've successfully broken that habit and I'm not emotionally ready to give up my desserts yet.
I also have a back-up religion, Judaism - again mainly because I like the rituals. I know that actually following the religion would involve a lot more effort on my part. I'd also have to give up mixing my meats and dairy, and that just isn't going to happen.
All this to say - I am not the most reverent person in this universe. So why is my blog, a bastion of sarcasm and inappropriate humor, surrounded by the God Squad?

Blog Fail
It's been how long since my last post? Good thing I don't have any followers.
On the up side, I did lose 46 pounds, and I did go on my Disney Cruise. So, goals met! I still want to lose about 30 more pounds, but right now I'm more focused on maintaining the weight loss than losing more. (FYI, Girl Scout cookies are NOT helping.)
I'm trying to get back into my exercise routine and I've signed up for the Avera Race for the Cure! 5k in Sioux Falls. So far I haven't raised any money, and I honestly don't expect to. I'm in this for the t-shirt.
I'm going to try to get back to this blog. Stay tuned for more!

(Not Actually the) Weekly Weigh In
Height- 5'4"
Weight- 170 lbs
Cruise Countdown- 111 days
Short Term Goal- 165 lbs
Intermediate Goal- 160 lbs
Long Term Goal- 130 lbs
I got pretty lazy about posting this last month. However, I didn't stall out my weight loss. As you can see, I've lost six pounds since my last "weekly weigh in". If I had kept up with my posting, it probably could have been more.
That's definitely something I'm going to work on.
I'm getting pretty close to my intermediate goal- I'd love to be there by Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure it's going to happen. I did add another Y class to my schedule- however, I also seem to be skipping at least one class a week and I'm not great about going on the weekends.
I'll try to finish October strong and build some momentum for the holiday season!
